Book Reading, Then and Now..

Reading is not a hobby, but a passion everyone should follow. I don't know why my junior batch guys and gals are not keen on reading things, even the curriculum thing. They just want to get the job done, but never have the idea about how things work. Consulting with some of the weak students, I found that they are very curious to know, but the classroom hours limits them to know limited things, as professors are very much interested in covering the course rather than finding out whether the student got the clear picture of what's going on.
Now what I see it, despite having the latest high tech android and ios phone in their hand, all the stuff they do are social media, youtube, games, and the end. Whereas the same phone has a lot of application to learn a lot of things, they were surprised when I showed them some of the apps they interested to learn but never know the application exists and that is too free of cost.

Even youtube has a huge amount of properly segregated and well-taught courses on the different topic, but keywords search is the term these guys missing. And the book... forget it, once upon a time, my hometown Brahmapur in Odisha had second-hand booksellers who would often be used to purchase books at 40% of the MRP price and those used to be sold at 50% or 60% of MRP price. Now the situation is like, books are being brought and sold on basis of weight because no one is reading them. Well, for me a mobile application may give you some skill, but it's not going to give you that interest and goosebumps to explore further the subject.

. I sincerely request readers, please encourage people and especially youngsters to read books, and make reading as a habit.
A lot of solutions to the problem lies in fundamental science, not in advanced things... so all we need is to learn and apply.
